The next political bang in Britain: Prime Minister Liz Truss also apparently wants to take over the position of Home Secretary Suella Braverman. Interior Ministry sources confirmed the minister’s departure from government on Wednesday afternoon. It was initially unclear whether the Home Secretary resigned voluntarily or was fired. It would be the second change in a key department in six days.
The Guardian is already speculating that former Transport Secretary Grant Shapps could now become Home Secretary.
Braverman belonged to the far-right wing of the party and regularly commented on her plans to make deportations harder. She recently scolded “tofu-eating” leftists in parliament.
Truss has already fired her finance minister
It was not until Friday that Truss fired her finance minister, Kwasi Kwarteng, and replaced her with former foreign minister Jeremy Hunt. The conservative head of government is fighting for office after she caused financial chaos with planned tax breaks and had to turn around.
