Showering in the indoor pool – mold makes Viennese family despair

Date:

In 2018, the B. family moved into a municipal building in Vienna-Liesing. Heating and hot water soon gave up the ghost due to the outdated iron pipes. Water damage in a neighboring apartment led to mold growth.

“We had no hot water or heating for months,” says father Ben. The family had to go to the indoor pool to shower. The fungal infestation caused the children to suffer from dizziness and migraines. It took months to remove these and install new radiators.

But now the fungus is spreading again. Wiener Wohnen refused to lower interest rates or provide a replacement apartment.

The company sees it differently. “The fungal infestation was attributed to less than ideal living conditions. In addition, the deadlines for removal were not met. Both parties have hired lawyers.
