The Verkehrsverbund Ostregion brings five established partners on board. The emergency grant has been in effect since Tuesday. Ferry passengers are relieved.
Was it the driver shortage, heavy traffic or a planning error? There are different opinions about the causes of the bus chaos in the Mödling district (Lower Austria). Of course, that does not matter to the commuters and especially to the many school children who depend on the lines. They expect the buses to run according to the timetable.
Since the transport association canceled the contract with the regional partner, the situation has not exactly calmed down. The businesswoman involved, Sabine Zuklin, even demonstrated in front of the St. Pöltner Landhaus, but not much is known about the ‘debate’ with the Transport Council and the VOR management. It may not have helped much either, so the company’s boss says he’s still considering legal action.
“Difficult situation clarified”
But in any case, the bus chaos in the Vienna area now seems to have been resolved. No fewer than five partner companies jumped in to provide the lines: Postbus, Dr. Richard, Blagus, Oberger and N-Bus got a chance. “Since today they are in use, the first feedback from the region has been more than positive,” said VOR spokesman Georg Huemer, pointing to the relief. He does not want to judge whether there are legal consequences or how such a thing could turn out. Huemer: “The difficult situation has been solved for the passengers in the Mödling district, who had the right of way in recent days.”
