After an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a toilet room in Praterstern in Vienna on Tuesday afternoon and her handbag stolen, police have now identified two 12-year-olds.
A search is still underway for another unknown person who allegedly assaulted the girl, as well as another who left before the crime, the executive said Thursday.
Two twelve-year-olds kept watch
The woman had entered the toilet with several young people, where sexual acts were taking place with an unknown person against the will of the 18-year-old. A man who apparently wanted nothing to do with it left the crime scene beforehand. According to those involved, two twelve-year-olds were standing in front of the toilet and made sure that no one came. As they left, one of the guards snatched the victim’s handbag and cell phone.
Mother finds stolen cell phone
The young woman filed a complaint in the evening and the mother was able to use her own cell phone to locate her daughter’s stolen cell phone. So this was at the police station at the headquarters. Shortly afterwards, the police searched the pockets of those present. The mobile phone was found on a 12-year-old Syrian man.
At about 7:20 p.m., he stopped a passing radio car near Laxenburger Strasse because a young man had just threatened him with a knife. He would have demanded money from him. The officers grabbed a 15-year-old Syrian man and also found the knife on him.
Investigations continue
The 12-year-old was the victim of the two-witness attack at the police station when the 18-year-old’s mobile phone was found on him. Police said he and one of the two witnesses, also a 12-year-old Syrian, had been clearly identified as suspects in the Praterstern robbery. The two children were handed over to their legal guardians. As far as sexual abuse is concerned, the ongoing investigations are carried out by the National Criminal Investigation Department, Branch Center East.
