A police patrol in Eberndorf, Carinthia, accidentally discovered an apartment fire on Friday afternoon. The two police officers rescue two elderly people from the completely smoky apartment. The “Krone” spoke to the two rescuers.
It is still unclear why the fire broke out on the first floor of the house in Eberndorf. What is certain is that the two residents owe their lives to attentive police officers. “We were just on patrol and we saw unusual smoke coming from the house,” one of the lifeguards said in an interview with “Krone”. The two officers immediately stopped and looked. They soon realized that there was imminent danger.
Helpless couple
“We saw a completely helpless gentleman standing at the window,” the officials describe. The two police officers eventually managed to get into the house. “We then rescued the woman and the man from the completely smoke-filled apartment. We even had to carry the gentleman outside because he was unsteady on his feet,” the officers say.
Firefighters extinguished the fire
When the two residents were rescued from the house, the officers immediately alerted the fire brigade. A total of five fire brigades responded and fought the fire. “There are currently four weirs in action,” said the State Alarm and Warning Center of Carinthia.
