Selection forests are the “descendants” of former primeval forests and real all-rounders. They are residential, recreational and economic areas, and they even defy climate change. They show that something good always comes out of just letting nature do its work.
A patch of forest near Langen in Bregenz: light falls through the treetops onto the moss-covered ground, drawing golden patterns. The green of the plants dominates even before the browns and grays of winter. There is an impression of seclusion and tranquility. What you wouldn’t suspect at first glance – this plenter forest is a very productive system and despite its supposedly original character it is a managed forest.
