On Saturday around 8.45 pm, some 20 to 40 people, masked in scarves and balaclavas, stormed a guest garden in southern Linz. They threw all objects, such as ashtrays, chairs, high tables and glasses at the 15 guests there and injured several people. When the police arrived, two men were fighting. One of them belonged to the group of assailants and was arrested on the spot – but he had to be hospitalized because of his serious injuries, probably caused by the brawl.
Forbidden weapon included
Three other attackers, ages 26 to 39, were rounded up at the Union Crossing and arrested by the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) and another grid square patrol. One of them had a prohibited weapon with him, which was confiscated. The motive has to be found between the two football fan groups – the investigation is still ongoing.
