Climate activists are now increasingly among the art critics. In the name of protecting the environment, attempts are made to destroy cultural treasures with food and paint.
In addition to streets, climate activists have now discovered art as a projection surface for their concerns.
In several European museums, members of various ‘splinter groups’ have already stuck to works of art and smeared food on them.
Emergency equipment is always ready
Museums in Vienna are also preparing for such attacks. Some homes have significantly tightened the “dress code” for visitors. Thick clothing and large bags are already taboo in many cases. A spokesperson for the Albertina also confirms this: “There are also emergency kits with tools and protective film, as well as gloves and glue remover near all exhibition areas. In this way, damaged photos can be carefully removed and quickly transported to the restoration department.”
Employees particularly sensitized
In addition, employees are currently being extra sensitized and trained to recognize deviations.
