A bomb threat was received by e-mail on the Oberbank in Ried in Upper Austria on Wednesday morning. The director reacted quickly and immediately blocked the Friedrich-Thurner-Strasse. Several buildings also had to be evacuated. Around noon everything became clear, nothing was found.
The police came in with explosives experts and explosives detection dogs. Several buildings, including the Oberbank, the tax office and a driving school, were evacuated and the area was largely cordoned off. At the end of the morning, the ‘all-clear’ followed: the operation is over, nothing has been found.
The bomb threat ended up in the bank’s internal messaging system. The threat was dated for today, Wednesday. Now it is up to the IT specialists of the police to find the sender of the message. If the culprit is identified, he faces a trial for making dangerous threats.
