About 7000 missing – Ukraine: don’t post pictures of missing people online

Date:

The Ukrainian government estimates the number of missing in the war against Russia at about 7,000. Exact details are impossible due to the fighting, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maljar said on Wednesday, according to the Unian agency. The figures were usually passed on late and inaccurately.

Maljar called on the population not to spread personal information about missing relatives on the internet – especially when it comes to soldiers. “The enemy is using this information. Do not post a photo of a missing person in uniform with personal information. This person could hide in civilian clothes in the temporarily occupied territories and that could expose him. It can also make prisoner exchanges more difficult.”

In case of problems, please contact the coordination offices
The State Secretary of Defense made an appeal to contact special coordination offices if necessary. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the attack on neighboring Ukraine on February 24. The war lasted more than eight months.
