2 million damages – jail time for fraudulent tax official

Date:

He was a truly sophisticated financial fraud – the Burgenland tax officer who had sold false invoices to audited companies, minimizing their taxes! Now the tax inspector has been sentenced to a partial prison sentence and a fine!

Actually, he should be on the trail of fake invoices. But instead he took advantage of it himself. This even annoyed the anti-fraud office staff. The construction was ingenious – the 67-year-old created a network of companies and individual companies, where he acted as general manager. He put out bills without any service, cashed them, forged signatures, opened bills. Financial damage: approximately 2 million euros.

“Honorable status in disrepute”
Even as president of a football club, he got state funding through false bills. That is why fraud was added to tax fraud and abuse of office. In court, the now retired man fully confessed. It had become clear to him that his actions had discredited the respectable status of tax officials.

Partial prison sentence for accountants
14 days of trial were actually planned, but the trial was short because of the confession: 24 months, six of which in prison, as well as a fine of 80,000 euros, half of which unconditionally. The verdict is not final. The son of the tax official, who was in the dock with his father, was acquitted, as were three other defendants.
