A seemingly completely unknown person attacked a 38-year-old man with a knife in a Viennese park on Thursday night – then stabbed him. The victim was seriously injured and the perpetrator is on the run.
The act happened around 1 a.m. in the Steinbauerpark in the Meidling district. The perpetrator had apparently approached his victim from behind and suddenly held a knife to the man’s neck. When the 38-year-old wanted to defend himself against the attacker, he stabbed. The victim suffered a stab wound to the torso. The perpetrator fled.
Manhunt not successful for the time being
The seriously injured man received first aid from the Vienna professional rescue service and was then taken to the emergency room of a hospital. There is currently no life-threatening situation, the director said. The police immediately launched a search for the attacker, which was initially unsuccessful.
No dispute, no demands!
The victim of the attack has already been questioned, according to police. There was no quarrel between the 38-year-old and the perpetrator beforehand, nor were there any demands from the attacker. The perpetrator was described as 1.80 to 1.90 meters tall and is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. In fact, he was wearing a white shirt with a dark waistcoat over it.
The investigation is ongoing.
