According to the regulation, so-called problem wolves can be shot in the Carinthian Gailtal since four weeks. A hunter managed to kill an animal on Monday night.
“It is the first wolf shot according to the wolf regulation in Carinthia. A relief for the population and farmers in the affected area,” says hunting and agricultural officer Martin Gruber. In accordance with the law, the shooting was reported to the state of Carinthia within 24 hours and investigated by the wolf commissioner.
“The animal killed is a she-wolf from which DNA samples have been taken. It is not yet clear whether the killed she-wolf is also responsible for the most recent incident in which some 30 sheep were killed on a pasture in Dellach,’ says provincial councilor Gruber.
