Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov left the G20 summit on Tuesday before its official end. A reason was not given. Lavrov came to the UN Security Council in New York for his own speech just two months ago.
This time the plane with the Russian delegation left the Indonesian island of Bali on Tuesday evening (local time). The meeting of the 20 leading economies and emerging countries will take place there, which ends this Wednesday. However, Western colleagues “tried in every possible way to politicize this statement and try to sneak in language that would condemn the actions of the Russian Federation on behalf of the entire G20, including ourselves,” he told Russia’s state news agency TASS.
According to state television, the minister’s departure from the top was already scheduled for Tuesday evening. A reason was not given. Only a day earlier, Lavrov rejected a report that he had been taken to an Indonesian hospital with heart problems.
