Costs 40 million euros – The Czech Republic is training 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers

Date:

The Czech Republic has decided on a training program for up to 4,000 members of the Ukrainian armed forces. The cabinet of liberal-conservative Prime Minister Petr Fiala gave the go-ahead on Wednesday. Both chambers still have to agree to this, but given the majority situation, this is considered certain. The program will start later this year.

Accordingly, five four-week training cycles are planned on the territory of EU and NATO member states, each of which will allow up to 800 military personnel from Ukraine attacked by Russia to participate.

The total cost is estimated at the equivalent of 40 million euros. The training is aimed at members of the armored personnel carriers, medical personnel, NBC defense forces and engineers.

The basis is the agreement between Prague and Kiev
It is the intention that the project will eventually be included in the already decided EU training mission for Ukrainian soldiers. The Czech Republic also wants to make a maximum of 55 trainers available for this. According to its own statements, the country has already exported more than 1.9 billion euros worth of weapons to Ukraine this year.
