At the end of September, a total of four leaks were discovered in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines after explosions near the Baltic Sea island of Bornholm, two of them in the exclusive economic zones of Denmark and Sweden. Soon after, sabotage was widely accepted as the reason.
Russia had been pumping gas from Siberia to Germany and other European countries through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline until the delivery halt. Nord Stream 2 was never commissioned due to the Russian attack on Ukraine. Russia denies responsibility for the leaks. An official perpetrator has not yet been named.
“Dark Ships” from blasts nearby
Just a few days ago, it became known that shortly before the alleged acts of sabotage, the American company SpaceKnow had apparently discovered two “dark ships” near the two gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, whose automatic identification system AIS had been disabled. The fact that the ships, which SpaceKnow said were about 130 or about 95 meters long, clearly wanted to hide their routes or their respective locations is suspicious, the company’s president Jerry Javornicky explained to the computer magazine “Wired”. .
