The Indian state space agency Isro has launched into space for the first time a rocket developed by a local private company. The mission “Prarambh” (beginning) launched from the space center in Sriharikota was successful, Isro said on Twitter on Friday. The Vikram-S missile, which weighs 545 kilograms and is six meters long, was developed by Indian start-up Skyroot Aerospace, local television channel NDTV reports.
As planned, you have reached an altitude of 89.5 kilometers. In 2020, the Indian government changed the regulations and allowed private companies to use the infrastructure of space agency Isro. Cooperation with start-ups and with the private sector in general should also be encouraged.
“Historical Monument” to the Government of India
India’s Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, who was on site for the rocket launch on Friday, called the mission a “historic milestone” and also a turning point for Indian start-ups. India is known for launching satellites relatively cheaply, also for other countries.
