Beach resort in Tuscany – burglary at the villa of Russian oligarch Tinkov

Date:

The Carabinieri are looking for criminals who broke into the villa of Russian oligarch Oleg Tinkov in the famous Tuscan resort of Forte dei Marmi. The 54-year-old is known for his $1 billion fortune, his criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the invasion of Ukraine and his extensive investments in Italy. The burglary was committed at a time when Tinkow was not in Europe.

According to initial estimates, items worth hundreds of thousands of euros have been stolen from safes. The detectives suspect the work of a professional gang who managed to disable several alarm systems. The images captured by video cameras are currently being evaluated and researchers hope to find useful clues.

Renounced Russian citizenship
Tinkov had sharply criticized the Russian offensive in Ukraine, calling it a “mad war”. He had renounced Russian citizenship in protest. He called on the West to end the “carnage”. Shortly after the outbreak of war, the entrepreneur was hit by British sanctions.

Retired as bank boss in 2020
The dazzling billionaire and founder of the online bank Tinkoff is one of Russia’s most famous entrepreneurs. The bank is one of Russia’s largest lenders and has about 20 million customers. In 2020, Tinkow retired as CEO.

In recent days, another villa in Forte dei Marmi, owned by an Eastern European magnate, has been broken into again. Inside were two wealthy Ukrainians who woke up. The thieves escaped but had already emptied a safe. The two acts could have been committed by the same gang.
