A serious accident occurred in Raaba (Graz-surrounding district) on Saturday afternoon. At a railway crossing, a small truck collided with a train.
Around 1.30 pm, a 59-year-old from Graz drove his small truck (van) on Spariweg in the direction of the level crossing there and wanted to cross it. He overlooked the red light of the signal system and drove onto the level crossing. At the same time, a passenger train was traveling towards Gleisdorf. The train collided with the truck, which was pushed backwards by the force of the collision.
Miraculously, neither the 59-year-old nor the 50-year-old train driver and the approximately 50 train passengers were injured. There was considerable material damage to the lorry and train. Train traffic resumed around 2:45 p.m. The volunteer fire brigades of Raaba and Hart bei Graz were on site with five vehicles and 28 emergency services.
