There can then no longer be a “nuclear-free status of the Baltic states”, according to the deputy chairman of the National Security Council and Putin’s confidential adviser.
“But the balance has to be found,” continued Medvedev. To date, Russia has not taken and does not intend to take such measures.
Discussion flared up with war
A few days ago, reports circulated that Finland and Sweden would be ready to join NATO in the summer. The discussion about possible membership has flared up since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Both states are not currently involved in any military alliance.
