A 53-year-old worker had to be taken to the Innsbruck clinic with serious injuries on Monday. The man had fallen four meters deep into a cellar shaft at a family home in Kolsassberg. The fire department had to use a crane to recover it.
The 53-year-old resident was working on scaffolding on the facade of the house when the accident took its course. “For unknown reasons, the lid of a cellar shaft slipped off,” police said. The axle was double secured. A metal grille and a wooden panel covered the opening.
Workers could no longer get up
When the ground gave way under his feet, the worker was unable to keep himself upright and fell four meters. The alerted rescuers were only able to free the crashed person from his plight with the help of a crane. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after first aid.
