During a routine weapons check, police officers found a veritable arsenal of weapons in a house on the Völkermarkt in Carinthia on Monday. Numerous Nazi memorabilia were also found in the 61-year-old’s home.
Officials went to the Völkermarkt building on Monday morning to conduct a routine weapons check. A pistol and a loaded magazine were already on a chest of drawers in the front room. “In another room, the long guns registered to the man and a handgun were found lying or standing unsecured,” said a police officer.
Rifle from World War II
Against the wall was a working World War II bolt action rifle. There were also two pieces of long gun ammunition, indicating prohibited war materials. “Based on these facts, a temporary firearms ban was immediately imposed. In addition, six bayonets, a pepper spray, a blank pistol and more than 500 rounds of suitable ammunition were seized,” said an officer.
Various Nazi objects on display
As if that wasn’t enough, the 61-year-old also displayed plenty of Nazi memorabilia such as medals, uniform parts, badges, literature and photographs in his home. During the house search ordered by the public prosecutor’s office, a blank pistol, remnants of live ammunition and a prohibited 30-round magazine were also found and seized.
A report has been filed against the 61-year-old.
