Ludwig was also a victim – false callers now fooled the Polish president

Date:

After a missile hit Poland’s border with Ukraine, President Andrzej Duda was tricked by Russian comedians during a phone call. The duo pretended to speak to French President Emmanuel Macron. Duda recognized the attempted deception and ended the call. Behind the action are the comedians Vovan (Vladimir Kusnezow) and Lexus (Alexej Stoljarow), whose victims also include the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig (SPÖ).

Duda’s office said on Tuesday the call came during “multiple calls with heads of state and government” after the missile exploded. During the conversation, Duda recognized from the unusual course of the conversation that it could be an attempt at deception and ended the conversation.

Seven minute conversation
In the seven-minute conversation, Duda reported to the alleged Macron about the missile strike in the border area with Ukraine. “It was definitely a missile. We don’t know who fired them. It was a Russian missile, so made by Russia,” Duda explains in broken English.

Duda announces the initiation of proceedings
Then things got explosive: Duda went on to report that he had already spoken to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and announced that Poland could apply to initiate proceedings under Article 4 of the NATO treaty. Article 4 provides for consultations between NATO countries if one of them sees a threat to the integrity of its territory, political independence or its own security.

“And what does he say?”
Duda also tells the caller about his phone conversation with US President Joe Biden. “And what is he saying? Is he accusing Russia?” the caller wants to know. “No,” Duda replies. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the other hand, is convinced that the missile was fired by Russia. “I don’t think we need an escalation no war between Russia and NATO,” says the alleged Macron. “Emmanuel, I don’t need a war with Russia either. I’m extra careful,” Duda assures.

Prominent victims
The duo “Vovan and Lexus” has been known in Russia for years for defrauding politicians and other international celebrities with fake phone calls. Earlier this summer, the comedians tricked several mayors in EU capitals into believing they were in talks with Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko.

One of the victims of the phone prank was the head of the Vienna city council, Ludwig. Some time ago, according to ARD information, they admitted in a “Contrasts” interview that they worked for an internet platform belonging to the Russian state-owned company Gazprom.
