The fire in a residential building in the Lower Austrian district of Hollabrunn necessitated a large-scale operation by the fire brigade on Thursday afternoon. The fire initially started in a barn, but flames quickly spread to the residential building, including seven dogs and several cats.
The fire broke out in Seefeld-Kadolz around 3.30 pm for unknown reasons. The owner of the house had noticed a fire in the barn and immediately alerted the emergency services. But the fire was not limited to the barn.
Within minutes, the fire spread and spread to the immediately adjacent residential building, W reported.Olfgang Thürr of the professional fire brigade Hollabrunn.
Area expanded, extinguishing work difficult
Because the area is so vast, countless troops were deployed to bring the flames under control. A total of 100 firefighters from eleven fire brigades were deployed and more than 20 respiratory protection teams fought the fire. According to Thürr, the extinguishing work was extremely difficult due to the size of the area.
Dogs and cats included
In addition, many animals trapped by the flames had to be brought to safety. The helpers were eventually able to rescue seven dogs and several cats from the building. The fire was finally under control.
