Several arrests – Tyrol: young people rioted in front of the police station

Date:

After officials arrested an 18-year-old man in Imst in Tyrol on Saturday evening, his colleagues made a loud noise in front of the police inspection and wanted to enter the building. Four other people were also arrested during a fight.

According to initial police investigations, a group of young people met near an underground car park in Imst on Saturday evening and disrupted an event several times. The situation eventually escalated during a police check around 11 p.m. An 18-year-old Austrian man who was part of the group behaved aggressively towards officers and was eventually arrested and taken to Imst police station.

A little later, about 15 of the young man’s companions gathered in front of the police station and demanded the release of their colleague. They tried to access the 18-year-old, but without success. The officers called for reinforcements.

Damaged car and brawl
“Meanwhile, a 15-year-old Austrian in the group could be observed causing damage to a parked car,” police said. When police tried to establish the boy’s identity, he fled, but was caught after a short chase.

Group started scuffle
He was also taken to the police station. Other colleagues of the two detainees then gathered. Some of them behaved extremely aggressively and fights ensued. Four people were then arrested. When the second police patrol arrived, the situation gradually calmed down.

The detainees were released shortly before 1 a.m. Several police patrols from the districts of Imst and Landeck, the regional traffic service of Tyrol and a patrol from Innsbruck were deployed. After completion of the investigation, the suspects will be reported.
