Fatal traffic accident Monday afternoon in Vienna: A pedestrian was pushed to the ground by a truck at a zebra crossing. The pensioner was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, the 75-year-old died a short time later.
The accident happened at the Hadikgasse – Zehetnergasse intersection. The truck driver wanted to turn right around 3 p.m. in the afternoon. At the same time, the pensioner crossed the street on the protective path. According to the police, they both had a green light.
Apparently, the 53-year-old truck driver had overlooked the woman, she was hit by the heavy vehicle and seriously injured. Rescuers took the victim to hospital after first aid. The 75-year-old succumbed to her injuries moments later. The accident brigade determined.
