Year-on-year inflation in the euro area fell by six-tenths in November – an increase of 10% – compared to the 10.6% recorded last month, which was a new record, according to preliminary data published today by Eurostat. The Spanish state is the common currency partner with the lowest inflation rate taking into account the harmonized CPI rate used by Eurostat to make data comparable between Eurozone countries, whose inflation rate was 6.6%.
It is therefore the first decline in year-on-year inflation in the eurozone since June 2021, when it stood at 1.9% and started to rise to unprecedented levels of more than double digits.
For his part, underlying inflation, which excludes energy products, food, tobacco and beverages because they exhibit more volatile behaviour, remained stable November by 5%.
