The Vienna police have dealt a notable blow to the drug trade. On Wednesday, three suspected dealers were arrested and a total of 11.3 kilos of cocaine with a street value of 1.5 million euros was seized!
The arrests were preceded by an intensive investigation by the Street Crime Task Force (EGS). The cocaine originated in Hamburg and was bunkered in a basement in Vienna-Penzing that belonged to a suspect’s apartment, the state police announced on Sunday.
Money, gun and car seized
A 25-year-old man from Bosnia-Herzegovina and a 36-year-old Hungarian are said to have delivered and stored the drugs in Vienna with a 39-year-old Croat living in Vienna. In addition to the narcotics, cash of about 9,000 euros, a gun with a ground serial number and a car that was probably used for smuggling trips were seized from the suspects.
Cocaine hidden in the basement
About half of the seized cocaine was in the basement. The other part was found in a backpack in the car. Whether and to what extent the suspects belonged to an international gang is the subject of the ongoing investigation.
