Energy is more expensive than ever. Everyone has to save – now also the policemen, although the work is hard enough. They have even received official instructions to do so, which are intended to encourage common sense among civil servants – even with cold water for washing.
A letter from President Karl Hutter, including energy-saving tips, was recently sent to Austria’s 858 police stations. Due to the Russian offensive war in Ukraine and the associated EU-wide uncertainty in the energy supply, the Ministry of the Interior wants to reduce electricity and gas consumption by 15 percent.
According to Hutter, this can be done, among other things, by lowering the room temperature and turning off the light after work. But he has other valuable tips for the police officers.
