A speed demon is said to have threatened and beaten police officers in Vienna on Saturday night. He also tried to drive away several times. Intoxicants, probably cannabis, were seized in the 30-year-old’s car, the management reported.
The Austrian overtook a vigilante at too high a speed on the Donauufer Autobahn (A22) near the Brigittenauer bridge. Despite the flashing blue light and subsequent horn, the driver ignored any attempt to stop. He was stopped near the north bridge.
The speed demon behaved extremely unwillingly during the check. He refused to hand over documents and attacked the police, refusing to get out of the vehicle. Suddenly he started the car, accelerated and drove off. The suspect parked his vehicle a little later in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße – there he was arrested.
Attention to cross-border traffic
The police also reported on traffic in the states of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. From Friday to Saturday, 618 reports and 84 organ mandates were made. Sixteen license plates and eleven driver’s licenses were seized (alcohol, addictive substances, speed). A driver was measured with a speed of 175 km/h instead of the permitted 70 km/h.
