Three brutal attacks took place in Vienna on Wednesday evening. In a men’s hostel in Leopoldstadt, a 23-year-old attacked his roommate with a club, among other things. In Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, a 39-year-old was stabbed in the neck. The third attack also ended with a serious injury.
In Leopoldstadt around 11:30 p.m., a 23-year-old man came to the police station with serious injuries and told the officers about an attack by a housemate of the same age in the men’s house with a knife and a wooden club. The WEGA arrested the man in the apartment a short time later.
Another attack on the belt
At 2:30 a.m., the knife attack on the neck of a 39-year-old occurred on the Mariahilfer Belt. The victim got into an argument with an unknown man in a bar, who then took up the weapon. The attacker fled, but a search turned up nothing.
Shortly after midnight, an argument between two men escalated on the Neubaubelt. A stranger gave a 33-year-old man several stab and cut wounds and was able to escape unnoticed.
No serious injuries
Three men were seriously injured in the attacks. In all three cases, the Viennese professional rescue service cared for the seriously injured and took them to hospitals, according to the police. The three apparently were lucky, the injuries were significant but not life-threatening.
