In Dornbirn in Vorarlberg, a house had to be evacuated on Thursday after explosives and weapons were found in an apartment. The resident of the apartment died in October.
Relatives of the 68-year-old deceased found explosive material and various weapons as part of the legacy in the basement of an apartment building in Dornbirn’s Langegasse on Thursday morning. They informed the Bregenz district authority, which in turn called the police.
Due to the unclear danger situation, the police and fire brigade immediately started evacuating the residential complex. The area around the building was also cordoned off. Furthermore, a crisis team was set up in a container, in which Mayor Andrea Kaufmann also participated.
Dangerous find secured
Two officials from the Ministry of Interior’s harmless service are currently transporting the dangerous find to a safe location and defusing it there. The crisis intervention team is also on site. According to police, the man lived alone in the apartment and died in October. He never appeared with the police.
