In Salzburg, police officers seized numerous weapons and Nazi memorabilia during a search of an apartment in the capital on Tuesday morning. In the living room of the 71-year-old resident, the officers found three rifles, six pistols, a total of 30 bayonets, swords, daggers and knives, numerous medals, helmets and flags and small amounts of ammunition. Father was in the German Navy
During his interrogation, the suspect stated that he had his father’s collection. He was in the German Navy during World War II and died years ago. Agents from the Cobra task force, the National Criminal Investigation Department and the State Bureau for Ground Protection and Counterterrorism (LVT) were also deployed during the house search on behalf of the Salzburg public prosecutor’s office.
It was not initially known how the detectives became aware of the man and whether the 71-year-old may have had contacts with scenes against the state.
