Little Josef was in a great hurry: when the Red Cross arrived at his parental home in Salzburg, the youngest member of the Hetteger family had already seen the light of day.
Mission Code: “Birth of Birth”. Robert Silbergasser of the Red Cross set out these days with this operational code. For the experienced paramedic it was only a few kilometers to the family home in Grossarl, where his grandmother was already waiting for him and instructed him.
“When the elevator door opened, I could already hear the baby crying!”
Robert lost the race with baby Josef. The youngest member of the family had already seen the light of day before he arrived. The First Responder cared for the newborn and cared for the new mother. Shortly after him, the midwife Birgit, a friend of the mother, who had also informed the expectant mother, was there.
She and Robert took care of the happy family until the other rescuers and the emergency medical team arrived. After the initial examination of mother and child, both were safely transported to the hospital in Schwarzach.
Baby Josef and mom are doing well
For First Responder Robert Silbergasser it was already the fourth delivery. What does he say about the quick home birth? “There are worse things”, he laughs, “life is not just a request concert!”
