Should be a motive – Paris-Schütze describes herself as a racist

Date:

According to French media, the alleged Parisian perpetrator describes himself as a racist. That would have been the reason for his shooting on Friday at a Kurdish community center in the tenth arrondissement of Paris. Three people died and three others were injured.

According to the Kurdish umbrella organization Democratic Kurdish Council in France (CDK-F), they were all Kurdish activists. The 69-year-old suspect fired several shots on Friday in a Kurdish community center, a restaurant and a hairdresser opposite the center. He was arrested and prosecutors are investigating the Frenchman for willful murder and serious assault.

Interior Minister: ‘He wanted to attack foreigners’
“He clearly wanted to attack foreigners,” said French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. However, it is still unclear whether the attack was explicitly directed against Kurds. The suspect was not registered by the security services as a right-wing extremist, but is being checked for a right-wing background to the crime. According to the French media, the suspect describes himself as a racist and gives this as a motive. According to broadcaster BFMTV, the man would have said that he specifically wanted to attack the Kurdish community.

“The Kurds in France were the target of a vicious attack in the middle of Paris,” President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter. The 69-year-old suspected shooter had just been released a few days ago. Last year he attacked a refugee camp, injuring several people. He is also said to have attacked a man with a knife in 2016.
