The perpetrator had set fire to paper in a sink in the men’s toilet in the waiting room of the train station in his hometown around 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, after which the fire spread further.
Prevent spread in time
Only the rapid action of the two voluntary fire brigades Frankenmarkt and Raspoldsedt prevented the fire from spreading to the entire indoor station and waiting area. There was a lot of material damage to the men’s room and the adjoining women’s room was affected by the soot. The extent of the damage cannot be quantified at this time.
