A shocking accident in Vienna has once again tragically demonstrated how hopeless pedestrians are when hit by a vehicle. It makes a big difference at what speed the car was traveling.
It was on the night of Tuesday when a 25-year-old lost control of his vehicle at an intersection on the Neubau belt – and with a car not allowed to drive – lost control of his vehicle, went off the road, ran out the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian. According to witnesses, the driver drove too fast, the 47-year-old passerby had no chance: he died in hospital.
In Köstendorf in Salzburg, a pedestrian was run over at a bus stop in the early hours of the Sunday before Christmas. The driver fled, the 24-year-old victim of the accident was seriously injured. Particles on the clothes of the arrested person should now provide information about the car, because according to information from “Krone”, the driver did not even stop after the collision.
Lawn is the most common traffic violation
With more than five million offenses per year, speeding is still the most common traffic offense in Austria. It is often only a few km/h that the speed limit is exceeded, but everyone should think that there is no chance of survival if an adult crashes at 60 km/h. It doesn’t look much better at lower speeds either.
