Our almost prayer wheel-like warnings seem to pay off from time to time! Because fraudsters are now trying to cheat a Tyrolean (57) with the well-known daughter trick. However, the smart woman was quick to respond and did not fall for the scam.
The woman from Ausserferner received a WhatsApp message on her mobile phone on Thursday, giving her the impression that her daughter’s mobile phone was broken and that she needed money for a repair. “She was asked to transfer a low four-figure euro amount to a German bank account,” police said.
Answer that only a real daughter could know
The 57-year-old then became suspicious and asked the stranger a question that only her real daughter could know the answer to. After the question went unanswered, she blocked the number and contacted the police.
