Electric driving will also be encouraged in 2023, but there are some changes. In most cases, legal entities no longer receive a subsidy. The only thing that changes for private customers is whether they want to buy a plug-in hybrid.
Those who buy an electric car as a private individual continue to receive a subsidy of 5,400 euros on the purchase price, which the manufacturer and the state share. The subsidy amounts for plug-in hybrids also remain the same, buyers can count on 2750 euros. What is new is that the electric WLTP range must now be at least 60 kilometers – previously 50 kilometers was sufficient.
The list price limit also remains: Cars whose gross list price in the basic model without special equipment exceeds 60,000 euros are not subsidized.
For the purchase of a single-track electric vehicle (e-moped or e-motorcycle), there are 2023 (just like last year), depending on the vehicle class and engine power, up to 2000 euros from BMK and the importers. The conditions for receiving the subsidy also remain largely the same.
Private charging infrastructure is also financed
The government subsidy for wallboxes or intelligent charging cables is up to 600 euros. 900 euros for a communication-capable wallbox in a multi-family house as a single system. You can get up to €1800 for communicative wallboxes with load management when installed in an apartment building as part of a community system.
Discounts on non-private
In 2023, the purchase of electric cars will only be subsidized for social institutions, driving schools, e-car sharing and e-taxis. Other companies have to pay full price. However: If you arrived too late last year because the piggy bank was already empty, you can still apply for e-mobility financing afterwards. “A prerequisite for submission is a purchase contract, dated and signed no later than December 31, 2022,” explains ÖAMTC e-mobility expert Markus Kaiser.
Tax advantages, such as the exemption from benefits in kind, the deductibility of input tax, the abolition of the ordinary consumption tax and motor vehicle tax, will continue to exist.
The operational charging infrastructure is also financed, which can amount to 30,000 euros per charging point (depending on whether it is an AC or DC charging point and whether the e-charging infrastructure is publicly accessible or not).
A total of more than 200 million euros
The Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK) will make a total of 95 million euros available in 2023 as part of e-mobility promotion. Applications for this can be submitted from the end of January 2023 at www.umweltfoerderung.at. From mid-2023 there will be an additional financing program of 10 million euros for disadvantaged areas.
In addition to the e-mobility financing, a separate financing route with 100 million euros for zero-emission commercial vehicles and infrastructure is also planned, which will provide targeted support to companies and clubs in converting their fleet.
