The plan also provides for an acceleration to 43 years from 2027 of the contribution time needed to enjoy a full pension, as well as for the minimum pension to rise to almost 1,200 euros.

The French government proposed this Tuesday to gradually raise the minimum retirement age since 62 year currently at age 64 in 2030within a comprehensive pension reform plan.
The plan also provides for an acceleration of the increase to 43 years old as of 2027 of the contribution time needed to enjoy a full pension, as well as an increase in the minimum pension almost 1200 euros net per month from this year for a full premium period.
The aim of the reform is the “balance” of the system, since “it is necessary that the contributions of active (workers) fund the pensions of pensioners,” said the Prime Minister, Elizabeth Borneat the press conference in which he presented the Executive’s plan.
The retirement age will be increased by three months from September 1, with similar increases each year until age 64 in 2024.
The exclusion of certain professions that are considered particularly painfulthe duration of the contribution to enjoy a 100% pension will be 43 years worked from 2027, and not from 2035.
Likewise, this reform will consider the possibility to have right to early retirement between the ages of 58 and 62 for those who formally started working before the age of 20.
“The deficit will grow year after year, it would be irresponsible to let it grow, just as it would be even more (irresponsible) to be carried away by demagogic measures,” said Borne, who recalled that other EU states are also age of retirement.
Anticipate the strong opposition to this reformboth in parliament and on the streets – with protests already planned by left-wing parties and trade unions – Borne has shown a willingness to “confront ideas, but without fomenting fear and misinformation”.
