After a sexual assault at the Christmas party in the town of Bludenz, the SPÖ criticized Mayor Simon Tschann’s crisis management.
A senior city official is said to have grabbed an employee by the ass during a Christmas party. This informed the staff representation and then mayor Simon Tschann (ÖVP). In the end, the matter was settled internally: the man was relieved of his managerial duties and transferred to another department, Tschann said – reports the “Krone”.
Criticism now comes from the opposition SPÖ: It is not true that the employee concerned was deprived of responsibility for the implementation: “The mayor’s description is incorrect, because it is intended that the employee involved remains the head of the department and will therefore be very soft fall.” says deputy mayor Eva Peter.
For the Social Democrat, there is no doubt that the man should have been fired immediately: “It is alarming and unacceptable if such an incident is trivialized and – in the sense of the perpetrator – remains virtually unpunished. How should this employee continue to lead the department in the town hall and send the signal to the entire organization every morning when entering the town hall that a little groping is allowed, isn’t it?” Incidentally, only the city council can decide on a termination – the Reds have already submitted a corresponding application.
