A psychiatrist who had spent years caring for an ex-Playboy model and her child, and even paid the woman’s rent, was found murdered in the trunk of the blonde’s car in 2019. Now Kelsey Turner has to answer for the murder of her sugar daddy. The 29-year-old allegedly asked her boyfriend to kill doctor Thomas Burchard when he wanted to break up with her. She was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison.
When he stopped paying her bills, Turner apparently hatched a murderous plan. Wanting to end the relationship, the 71-year-old psychiatrist drove to Las Vegas to inform her of the breakup. The blonde’s friend was already waiting at Turner’s house – with a baseball bat. Jon Kennison killed Burchard. The victim was then placed in the trunk of a car linked to the former model.
Prosecutor speaks of ‘transactional relationship’
“There is certainly a lot of room for lewd speculation about the nature of the relationship,” Assistant District Attorney Pamela Weckerly said at the sentencing hearing. “I think the facts of this case show that Ms. Turner was a transactional associate, to any degree.” In total, Burchard allegedly transferred the Playmate $300,000. What he gets in return is unknown.
Kennison previously pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in July and was sentenced to 18 to 45 years in prison. Her roommate, 34-year-old Diana Nicole Pena, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder. She admitted to cleaning up the crime scene before fleeing Las Vegas with Turner and Kennison.
Turner reached a plea bargain about three years after the murder. While she did not admit to the murder, she did admit there was enough evidence to convict. In return, she is entitled to a probationary period of ten years, American media write. The evidence was overwhelming for the erotic model: The housemate stated that Turner was involved in the 71-year-old’s murder.
“She was okay with letting someone she’d known for several years who supported her and her child financially for several years rot in the desert in the back of the car they paid for,” the prosecutor said. The ex-model’s lawyer emphasized that she did not agree in any way with the statements made by the other party. “However, I am happy that Kelsey will have the opportunity to rebuild her life in the future,” said attorney Ashley Sisolak.
