More and more people are skipping tests without rejecting them – much to the chagrin of doctors. This can cost the patient dearly.
Christoph Fürthauer, Vice President of the Salzburg Medical Association, is annoyed. The reason: more and more patients do not come to agreed examination appointments – and that without cancelling. “We have deadlines and there are plenty of patients waiting for an examination. If people miss appointments and don’t even get in touch beforehand, that’s outrageous,” says the doctor.
Cancellation costs depending on the treatment
That has increased significantly in recent times and many doctors have complained to the chamber about the situation. He therefore encourages GPs to introduce cancellation costs. In some practices, the regulation already applies.
