The Basque Autonomous Community will end 2022 with an unemployment rate of 8.4%, one and a half points less than in 2021

In the past year, the number of people in work increased by 17,100 and the number of unemployed fell by 15,000. However, compared to the third quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate has increased by half a point.

In the last yearthe unemployment rate has fallen by one and a half points from 9.9% in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 8.4% in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data from Eustat.

This figure is also lower than the 11.4% that ended 2020, the year marked by the restrictive measures to deal with the covid-19 pandemic, and at the end of 2019, when it was 9.5% used to be.

The number of people in work also increased by 17,100 last year and the number of unemployed decreased by 15,000.

However, from the third to the fourth quarter, unemployment increased by half a point. In addition, there are 4,600 fewer people in work and 6,100 more unemployed than in the previous quarter.

The total number of unemployed is estimated at 88,500 and the number of employed at 962,600.
