ORF debates, child pornography scandal and migration: the media and family minister Susanne Raab (ÖVP) asks all these questions in “Club 3”. In the Teichtmeister case, she becomes emotional.
The well-known actor Florian Teichtmeister is accused of possessing 58,000 child pornography. He probably won’t go to jail. In Austria, possession carries a maximum prison sentence of two years.
“It Makes You Sick”
Raab: “It really makes you sick. If you compare that to property crimes, for which you can go to prison for several years, we need a change in criminal law.”
Raab is calling for harsher penalties than in Germany, where possession of child pornography is punishable by five years in prison. 10 years is available for distribution. There is a lively exchange with the coalition partner. The minister also speaks candidly about ORF. “It cannot be the case that the ORF receives more tax money every year, while there are cutbacks everywhere.”
Rabb to ORF
With regard to the ORF, the media minister spoke out against an automatic annual increase in the ORF budget. What particularly irks Raab is the desire to tie budget funding to an annual rate of inflation. That would mean the ORF would get more money every year, Raab said in “Club 3,” the show on krone.tv, schauTV (“Kurier”) and profil.at.
