Green faction leader: – “Postenschacher cannot be trivialized”

Date:

The U committee came to a rough and abrupt end. What remains? A new anti-corruption package and transparent media financing. “You can’t belittle Postenschacher,” said Nina Tomaselli, a member of the Greens in the National Council. Is the turquoise system still there? Tomaselli, who appears as the leader of her party in the U-committee, does not really want to discuss this in conversation with moderator Conny Winiwarter. But: with the ÖVP you “come together” when you make important decisions. When it comes to the Schengen veto, it probably won’t work: Chancellor Karl Nehammer needs to come to his senses, says Tomaselli.

She cannot understand the veto over the accession of Romania and Bulgaria. Green Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler gritted his teeth in his talks with Nehammer about this. But giving up is not an option. Tomaselli: “I think there are still several opportunities for Karl Nehammer to gain insight.”

“The days of absolute majorities are over”
In view of Lower Austria’s election results, Tomaselli says that Lower Austria must now form “a real state government”. Times of absolute majorities are over – and that’s a good thing: “Different opinions inspire competition”. She sees the loss of the ÖVP-Greens majority in the Bundesrat as a consequence: you just have to convince the other factions of the need for important projects. “We have already done that with many projects,” Tomaselli emphasizes, for example, the climate ticket or the eco-social tax reform.

Politicians “can’t agree on a simple date”
So the U committee is over. The hasty end left Tomaselli “affected”. Why? “In times of multiple crises against politicians, you get the impression that you cannot agree on a simple date,” says the Green politician angrily. The commission would have brought something: such as criminal law against corruption or transparent media. financing.

And some ÖVP players have also left politics, such as former Chancellor Kurz, ex-Minister of Digitization Margarete Schramböck and ex-Minister of Agriculture Elisabeth Köstinger. But that’s not enough: “We need to start a process of self-cleansing in politics.” Tomaselli explains in the video what she means by that.

No splashes with hanger, getting together with Nehammer
In any case, Tomaselli would not go for a drink with ÖVP party leader Andreas Hanger, she says. But are you happier with the leadership of your own coalition partner, Chancellor Nehammer? When asked, Tomaselli laughs: “Vice Chancellor Karl Nehammer in particular maintains a professional relationship.” And that’s what it’s all about in the end. One thing is clear: “We pull together for important decisions.” As is currently the case with the abolition of brokerage fees for tenants.
