He is said to have committed a murder in his homeland. His escape ended in the middle of Salzburg on Wednesday evening: the police arrested a 43-year-old Serb in a hotel.
There was an international arrest warrant against the man. Investigations showed that the man drove a car from Germany to Austria in recent days. Numerous Salzburg police forces also took part in the search.
The man was taken away without resistance
In the Elisabeth Vorstadt district, the police finally found the vehicle in question in a hotel parking lot. It soon became clear that the suspect had actually moved into a room in the residential facility. Cobra Special Forces officers broke down the door to his room. The Serb allowed himself to be arrested without resistance. He is now in Puch-Urstein Prison. Further investigations are underway.
