At one o’clock in the morning, the city fire brigade of Oberwart was called by the Burgenland state security center for a building fire. A devastating fire broke out at a popular fast food restaurant.
It is not yet known what caused the fire – but one thing is certain: the restaurant won’t be reopening anytime soon, as 90 percent of it has been robbed by the flames.
No injuries
Shortly after midnight, the last employee had left and locked the restaurant. The fire broke out shortly afterwards. Although the fire brigade was quickly on the scene, a large part of the building was already in flames upon arrival.
Operating hours
Unterwart was immediately alerted. The comrades of the two barrages fought the fire for hours. After about two and a half hours “fire out” could be given. No one was injured in the fire.
The investigation into the cause of the flames is ongoing. The building will probably have to be demolished because the damage is enormous.
