New York police have arrested a man who allegedly hit several pedestrians and moped riders with a rental car in Brooklyn. According to consistent media reports, there were several injuries.
The driver of the van initially fled, but was then apprehended, it is said. The motive for the crime is guesswork. However, the police are by no means assuming that it was an accident. In the end, meetings with the victims took place at three different locations in the American metropolis.

A former senior New York City police officer told WABC-TV that the bloody incident on Monday morning (local time) reminded him of the 2017 attack. “That was my first thought when I heard about the rented small truck,” explains Robert Boyce. At the time, Uzbek Sayfullo Saipov was racing a pickup truck in Manhattan on a bike path and ran into or rammed pedestrians and cyclists. Eight people were killed and dozens more injured.
Saipov carried out the attack on behalf of the Islamic State terror militia. The killer was stopped and arrested with a gunshot to the stomach. A court found him guilty last year. The fine will be announced shortly.
The driver, who was arrested Monday, allegedly suggested to police that he wanted to die, according to a member of the New York City Assembly. The politician spoke of at least six injured.
