The Association of Electricity Companies and the employers’ associations of the banks will resort to the extraordinary profit rates approved by the Spanish government. This tax could bring the Basque Country 400 million euros in two years.
Yesterday, the employers of the banks AEB and CECA filed an appeal with the National Court and today the association that brings together the main electricity companies in Spain (Iberdrola, Endesa and EDP) announced its decision to also appeal to this court.
Of the money raised in the Spanish state, Euskadi estimates it will raise 400 million in two years. Economy and Finance Minister Pedro Azpiazu yesterday hoped to have the first payment of that money in May, although at this point the exact amount that will come in that first installment is unknown.
